Box breathing is a simple breathing exercise that can help a young person slow down and bring attention back to the present moment. The technique uses four equal steps: inhale for 4 counts, hold for 4, exhale for 4, and hold for 4. The goal isn't to breathe perfectly, but to give the mind something steady to focus on.
Try This
Sit comfortably and relax your shoulders. Slowly inhale through the nose for 4 counts, hold for 4, slowly exhale for 4, then pause for 4. Repeat for several rounds at a comfortable pace. If holding the breath feels uncomfortable, skip the holds and simply use a slow, steady inhale and exhale.
